All members of Team SSP have targeted Catfish at some point of their fishing careers. There can be no harder fighting fish than a Wels, Mekong or Amazon Red Tail Catfish. The power and shear strength of these awesome fish really put the angler and tackle to the ultimate test.
Each species offer a different variation of tactics and baits. From surface feeding species like the Mekong or Chaya Phraya Catfish, to the stealth like predatory instincts of the Wels or Amazon Red Tail, each species seem to have their own distinct way of feeding.
Over the last two years Team SSP has been developing a range of hook baits, specifically designed for these huge creatures. We have researched the feeding habits, and how these cats actually take the bait, and the results have been amazing. Utilising fish based oils and high quality fishmeal extract we have found that the fish actually home in on the attractors and enhancers of certain ingredients. The pulling power of certain amino oils triggers the fish into an aggressive feeding frenzy, and puts them in a feeding mode.
All predatory fish have different sensory receptors, which sets them aside from other species. They can pick up a scent from a greater distance, and feel in-nerve receptors when a fish is in distress. It is this scent receptor that we have based our enhancers on, and while not being pungent, they simply ooze the right amount of scent to trigger predators into attacking the bait itself.
